about
I wrote this in Guyana on a project, back when Glo and I were just engaged.
The village was really remote and I've never seen a more varied or plentiful amount of wildlife before or since. The skies were endless and at night you could almost grasp infinity.
One night, out for a walk and thinking about love, I lost, for a moment, the horizon line, between where the stars ended and the fireflies began. It was like walking through space.
lyrics
your laughing in your sliver moon voice
your laughing like the stars in the sky
your laughing calls me up from the valley
your laughing cuts me down to size
I'm not going to leave you now that I've found you
love dancing in your eyes
like fireflies
your laughing while your heart is still reeling
your laughing when you're near to the prize
your laughing after rain on the meadow
and the clouds standing round looking all surprised
I'm not going to leave you now that I found you
as candles whisper and sigh
like fireflies
softly now as morning breaks over the trees
softly now as the sun starts to rise
softly now as you kiss my cheek
softly now as you whisper your goodbye
I'm not going to leave you now that I've found you
there's no ifs whens or whys
just fireflies
